Dance Exploration, LLC is very excited to announce that John Amesse Elementary in the Denver Public School District will receive a free 6 week dance session upon successfully raising $500.00 for this school! John Amesse Elementary was nominated by Michael Williams the Community Engagement Specialist at the school. He explains why John Amesse is in need of programs such as Dance Exploration.

"Located in the Montbello neighborhood in the Far North East region of Denver, John Amesse Elementary is a school perpetually searching for resources. We are a Title I school but we don't believe this designation should mean our students receive less than a stellar educational experience. We serve a primarily Hispanic student population (68%) and our schools Free or Reduced Lunch numbers are very high at 96%. Despite these economic challenges our 3rd Grade TCAP scores improved from 28.2% proficient and advanced in 2012 to 54.5% in 2013. This was some of the highest improvement in Denver Public Schools last year. We are aggressively searching for ways to continue to improve our academic standing by incorporating more enrichment programs such as yours. We know Dance Exploration's "Dance to Learn" program will further help us keep students active and interested while at school and we know that it will help us improve the academic outcomes for students moving forward.

Students at John Amesse would greatly benefit from the physical fitness aspect of learning dance as well as learn much about the cultural aspects that are also present. In the 2012 - 2013 school year our school hosted the Playworks program that gave students a chance to engage in structured activities that got them moving. Unfortunately we will not be able to have Playworks during the 2013-2014 school year. I envision that a partnership with Dance Exploration will excite our students, get them moving and help them learn despite our loss of programming at the school. We would very much welcome the opportunity to work with your organization and anxiously await your response and the chance to host Dance Exploration during the 2013-2014 school year."
