Just a little update for you all following the threads over the summer regarding both the supporters flags and a concept for a banner in the IPS. Following the support and donations which I received at the back end of last season I have been able to get all the supporters flags cleaned and repaired following two years of weathering at the top of the IPS. Also I have been able to get all the flags that needed re/fireproofing done during the summer break. This is very expensive and would not have been possible without your support. As you may remember it had been agreed that from next season the flags would be placed on the netting at the front of the Town End. However following a trial of this earlier this week and subsequent meetings the club have decided that they would prefer for the flags to go back up in the gap on the IPS. Personally I agree with this as we were still left with huge black gaps and fixing the flags down was proving more difficult than anticipated. Obviously with this being a supporter area it was vital that we got this right for Ground Relegation's etc. Also with the flags all being different sizes it just didn't look right. However the very large Union Flag (with Preston North End on it) and Surf's One & Only North End flag will be staying on the netting as these are large and cover the space well and give a good visual impact. However due to us having two games on Sky early in the season the club have requested I wait until after our 3rd Home game against Oldham on the 9th September to put them back up. With the kind donations I received I have been able to purchase many more special clips etc and will be able to buy more ties etc to get me through the whole season keeping the flags neat and tidy. I realise that this is not the perfect solution to filling the gap but hope people agree it is good to have an area where supporters can show there support for the team and I thank the club for their support with this. We will have a some spare room now too, so if you have a flag you would like to be displayed at Deepdale just let me know and I will make sure it is hung up for you.
