In January 2012, Blake was diagnosed with Anaplastic Medulloblastoma which is an aggressive brain tumor that was located at the base of his brain and spinal cord. Unfortunately once it was identified, it had already spread throughout his brain and spinal cord. Blake endured a successful 8 hour brain surgery that removed virtually all of the large mass. The rest responded to 6 weeks of daily chemotherapy and radiation with an additional 6 months of intensive chemotherapy. 

His battle has just begun, though. Although the intial side effects of chemotherapy and radiation such as hair loss are short lived, there are permanent side effects as well. Chemotherapy has led to hearing loss which requires hearing aids. Full and extensive radiation to the brain and spinal cord typically causes the spine to stop growing which stunts growth. It can lead to cataracts and thyroid problems later in life. It typically lowers I.Q. by 20 points. 

We want to raise money and awareness for this deadly, or at least life altering cancer of young kids. We are so grateful that surgery, radiation, and medicines have cured Blake, but there has to be a better option than leaving him scarred for life.
