About our project

Blackpool is one of the UK's most deprived areas with high rates of unemployment and many social problems. Low aspirations and ambitions are all too common amongst teenagers and young people in the town. Our project aims to give a group of 30 young people a year from Blackpool the chance to take part in a unique educational and cultural exchange to the People's Republic of China.

About the exchange

Following a successful initial visit to China in 2012, our project will take 30 students every two years starting in April 2014. We will travel to Beijing from where we will head into remote areas of China, spending time at a high school where we will take part in lessons, play sport, and socialise with the students there. Our travel in China will be on overnight trains and local buses, food will be taken at local restaurants, and our experience will be kept as "real" as possible. We will also become one of the first groups of UK students to climb Tai Shan (China's holiest mountain) and will learn all about Chinese culture and religions. Our trip will culminate in the amazing city of Shanghai, from where we will fly back to the UK.

Funding

Your help will aim to reduce the cost of this life-changing experience for these students, as well as providing heavily subsidised places to students who may not be able to afford such an experience, but who would benefit from it greatly.

We thank you in advance for your kind support.
