I am a 22 year old South African with a great idea...

As you all know, South Africa is facing an energy crisis. I have a solution: biogas. Biogas is the perfect solution; it can help South Africans with the crisis we’re facing...

I’ve been doing research on this project for years. This has always been a passion of mine. I’ve built a few digesters as a hobby and finally decided to turn it into a business.

What does a mini-biogas plant look like? It consists of a digester tank, inlet for feeding kitchen waste and other raw material which can be digested by bacteria, a gas holder tank, outlet for sludge, and a gas delivery system.

How does it work? Biogas is a clean and renewable energy source. Biogas is made in a digester, a large tank filled with bacteria that digests organic waste and other raw materials. e.g leftover food, animal waste. And that gives off flammable (methane) gas. The gas can then be used for cooking and generating electricity.

Why biogas? It has so many benefits! It is environmentally friendly and a cheap way of cooking and generating electricity. It’ll also make life easier for a lot of people, financially and health-wise. It’ll create a few jobs as well.

Rewards for funding my project:

10% share in business profits to highest investor, sample of product to $5000+ investments, all investors will receive monthly updates on how project is doing, and free advertising on our soon-to-be-launched website to investors with companies.

How much backing is needed: as much as I can get, but $500 000 would be enough to get the project of the ground. My main goal is to build biogas powerplants which can generate electricity to the whole of South Africa. The mini-biogas plants will be used by rural communities.

How money will be spent: all sums were carefully calculated.

The correct premises and land would cost about $130 000, equipment( tools, office equipment) would cost about $2 000, stock( pipes, valves, tanks, etc to build digesters) would cost about $5 000, delivery truck would cost about $25 000, legal fees( if any) would be about $1000, research $5 000, building of power plants would cost about $200 000, labour would be about $100 000, and $32 000 would go to shipping of samples to investors.

How long before completion of this project? Project will be started as soon as funding goal is reached, but it would take about a year or two to be fully completed.

If I get more money than I asked for:

The extra money will then be donated to charity or be used to help aspiring entrepreneurs with their startups.

This is a worthy project and would benefit a lot of people and South Africa as a whole. If you can’t contribute, just share the link and help me change lives!
