Benns New Smile

I am running the Virgin London Marathon to raise money for an operation for my best friend and big brother Benn Taylor. He has a genetic wasting disease of the mouth which has called for him to have all his healthy teeth removed at the young age of 32.

 

The type of disease Benn has is very aggressive and is called Periodontitis. Periodontitis is caused by miroorganisms that adhere to and grow on the tooth's surfaces, along with an overly aggressive immune response against these microorganisms, which in hand means his own body is attacking itself, eating away all of his jaw bone leaving him with a mouthful of wobbly teeth because they is nothing holding them in place.

There are many aticles on Periodontitis on the internet but i found www.wikipedia.com quite intresting and helpful, so I could understand the disease Benn has and what it is doing to his body, mouth and what he's going through.

Now this sort of thing would be bad enough for a person of an older age but for someone in their early thirtys, I can't imagine how life destroying it would be.

Benn has tried a number of different Dentists and Doctors and his Mum has even written to local MP's and the Houses of Parliment, begging for someone to help, as there is no charity for this condition. On his last appointment at our great NHS, Milton Keynes General, Benn was told, and i quote “if you had cancer we could do something for you but this isn't budgeted, theres nothing we can do for you” nice hey!!!!!!!!!!! Benn has found a dentist that can help him but the operation will cost in the region of £20,000, which is of course alot of money...........so this is were I come in, Matthew Miller, little brother from another mother.

I am going to run the London Mararthon for him and try and raise as much Doller, Euros, Yen, Moolah, Benjamins, Dough, Bangs n Mash, basicly pennies, i can to help him  towards his operation.
