Campaign Story
Dear Owners or Residents.
As part of an ongoing effort to secure our neighbourhood, concerned residents from the Belvedere Community Group would like to initiate a CCTV camera project in our neighbourhood. For now, the project is restricted to the following area, and this campaign is to raise money for the first installation at location B. The installations are planned in the following sequence, and fund raisers will be created for each installation. The sequence of installations is as follows: B, A, I, F, G, H, D, E and C. This is based on the worry that the conservancy along Springside road is the source of most of the opportunistic crime.
The costing is made up as follows;
One pole @ R3,950, 4 cameras @ R2,526 (R10,105), one 8 channel NVR @ R1,999, one 8 port switch @ R1,722, one 4 TB Drive @ R1,943, one inverter with batteries @ R5,500, 3 Nano stations @ R1,129 (R3,388), one PVC energiser box @ R780, installation @ R5,500 and sundries (such as cabling) @ R850. A 15% contingency of R5,361 has also been included. The inverter will ensure the cameras remain functional during load shedding up to a maximum of 4 hours, and that the owners at the installation points continue to have access to wifi, which is also required to maintain the camera recordings. The cameras will be constantly recording during the day and night. Not all the installations will cost R41,000. There are two main installation hubs, location B being one of these. The total project is estimated at R260,000.
This platform has been chosen for maximum transparency in the fund raising process. Please state your name and include your address in the comments section when donating towards the project. If by the 31st October 2020, this project is not fully funded, all donated money will be returned to the benefactors. Karen Weidlich takes full responsibility for all funds donated, and will oversee the payment of Alotech for the installation. The cameras will be monitored by members of the Belvedere Task Team, and will not infringe on the privacy of any members of the community. The cameras will monitor public roads and spaces only, and will be used for criminal purposes alone and not civil queries. In the case of a criminal investigation, footage will be provided to the Hillcrest SAPS based on a court order.
A presentation detailing the specifications of the chosen equipment is available on request. It has been agreed with the owners at the installation locations that the equipment belongs to the community. Should properties be sold or transferred, either the new owners agree to the installation remaining on their properties, or the equipment will be removed and placed at a new location. The risk of theft or malicious damage has been deemed as minimal, and as such the equipment will not be insured, unless the owners agree to add the equipment to their household insurance.
