The Explosion in Beirut today feels surreal. I am still unable to fully comprehend what has happened. My neighbourhood is destroyed, my best friend’s neighbourhood is unrecognisable under the rubble. Everyone I know is affected by the explosion, and a grim air of despair is eclipsing our beautiful city tonight.
Tens of people have lost their lives, the injured are in the thousands. Beirut was already suffering under a perpetually crashing economy, people losing their jobs, and now this. Homes are destroyed, people are without shelter, without basic needs. It is so heartbreaking. The wonderful Lebanese, who have made this city my second hometown, do not deserve this. They do not deserve an unrecognisable Beirut under the rubble.
The donations collected will go to the Lebanese Red Cross, Baytna Baytak, Beit El Baraka, and various other NGOs hellping those most vulnerable and in urgent need of our help.
