Mind – Our national mental health charity supporting individuals and families across the UK to ensure no-one has to face their battle alone. Mind provide direct help such as a suicide helpline as well as raising awareness of mental illness to help rid the stigma which people face in their lives and ensure everyone gets the respect they deserve.
Supporting Young Minds (SYM) – A newly founded volunteer group at the University of Nottingham which supports primary school aged pupils to promote confidence and mental wellbeing, something which is sadly missed from the curriculum at most schools. SYM deliver small-group workshops to be able to tailor activities to the needs of individuals in order to give them tools to cope with difficult situations, build confidence and raise awareness of mental health.
Free Cakes For Kids, Nottingham – A voluntary group with a mission to make Nottingham a better place, one birthday cake at a time! We believe that everyone deserves a reason to smile on their birthday regardless of their circumstances and so we provide a cake to children who wouldn’t otherwise receive one. We’re joined together by our love of baking and making a positive difference and also support charity projects, elderly people who don’t get any visitors and homeless individuals.
