Please help in any way you can. My friend Barbara for years and years has single-handedly (with her husband) used her own meager funds to care for more than 60 cats at her home. When she moved to her home, there was a colony already there of feral cats. The county wanted to trap and euthanize them, but she fought to let them stay. She trapped and had them all fixed, again, at her own cost. The county does offer free spaying, but here is the catch. If you bring a feral cat in, then it isn't yours. Therefore, if there is even the slightest problem with it, they can put it to sleep rather than neutering or spaying it. She had that happen once and was heartbroken. She vowed never to bring them to a free spay/neuter place again. She has fed and cared for these cats. Seventeen of them currently have some sort of health issues, and they have been brought permanently into her home since they are at a disadvantage outside. She has brought many of these cats to adoption events, but it is very hard to get feral cats, or those with health issues adopted.

This brings me to Patches. This friendly outdoor kitty developed a horrible eye problem. They aren't sure if it was from someone abusing an outdoor cat, as terrible people in the area sometimes use the feral cats as target practice and worse. This kitty's third eyelid was in such bad shape that she had to take him to a specialist who had to remove it. The cost was over $1400. However, this sweet kitty needed the operation right away. So even though she really doesn't have the money, she agreed to try and make payments.

This wonderful woman is basically running a shelter for cats, without asking for anything. And she really needs the financial help with this huge vet bill. Any extra I can raise will go to the food and litter for these 50+ cats. Please please give even a little if you can. Anything makes a difference. And please share this on your FB page too.

If anyone in the Orlando area is looking to adopt a cat, please contact me and consider one of these. She knows these animals well, and can tell you their personality.

Thank you for any help you can give.
