Baby of E.D.L.Hela Abhishek Senevirathna to do the Cochlear Implant suergery

We are writing to you with heartfelt concern and a humble request for assistance for our beloved son, Lasandu.

Lasandu, who will be turning 3 years old next month, has been facing profound hearing loss since birth. We have tirelessly explored every avenue to help him regain his hearing. Our journey began at Lady Ridgeway Arya Children's Hospital in Sri Lanka, where we were informed of his deafness from birth. However, our hearts could not accept that our precious child could not hear the world around him.

We embarked on a journey to provide him with hearing aids, fitting him with two Superpower hearing aids. Despite our unwavering efforts over the past year, Lasandu did not respond positively to the hearing aids. His medical reports and consultations with ENT specialists have confirmed that he has profound hearing loss, making cochlear implant surgery the only viable option to restore his hearing to normalcy.

We took the step of placing Lasandu's name on the cochlear implant surgery waiting list at Jayawardenepura Hospital in Sri Lanka. However, the lack of necessary equipment in government hospitals for systematic cochlear implant surgeries has caused significant delays. Regrettably, this delay means that the surgery, which is crucial for Lasandu's development and future, is already overdue according to medical advice.

We have been presented with the option to privately purchase the cochlear implant and processor, after which the government hospital will perform the surgery at no cost. However, the financial burden is beyond our means. The total cost for the necessary equipment stands at approximately LKR 6,970,000/=, an amount we cannot afford.

In our determination to provide Lasandu with the gift of sound, we have reached out to our community, going door to door to collect donations. Through immense effort, we have managed to gather around one hundred thousand LKR. While we are grateful for this support, it is not enough to cover the full cost.

With profound hope and a heart full of love for our son, we kindly request your support in purchasing the equipment needed for this life-changing surgery. Your contribution would be an immeasurable gift to Lasandu, granting him the ability to hear and communicate with the world around him.
