Athletic Trip – 4 – College Scholarship (Help us reach 1st $1000 goal)

Please help Carlos Gabriel attend his 1^st Athletic Tournament in the U.S.! Our main purpose is to provide Carlos with exposure for athletic and academic scholarships to help pay for his College education. Although he's in 10th grade and has not made up his mind yet, he is interested in becoming a Pilot, and possibly a Lawyer.

Carlos started playing volleyball around the age of 12, when most kids start as early as 6 years old. His perseverance, academic accomplishments, God’s grace, and the height and amazing jump ability God has blessed him with, has helped him receive scholarships for his High School studies. One of his dreams is to travel to the U.S. to compete in tournaments. He is now 15 years old, 6 feet and 3 inches tall, and although he’s still developing his volleyball skills with great effort and dedication, he has been selected to play for one of the top volleyball teams in Puerto Rico.

The team participated this past summer in the 2016 USA Boys’ Junior National Championship www.teamusa.org/usa-volleyball/events/indoor/boys/... - 5th video P.R. flag), competing against the top volleyball teams in the Nation and won 2nd place. In February 2017, the team will have to compete in the Dennis Lafata Gateway Boys Festival Bid Event which will be held in the Indianapolis Convention Center (http://www.gatewayvb.org/e-boysfest.html), in order to qualify once again to compete for the National Championship in July 2017. Participating in important sports events like these involve great costs, but one of the main rewards is that they provide great exposure for these athletes to receive athletic scholarships for college.

For the qualifying event in February 2017, Gabriel will be traveling with his Dad/my husband and will incur in many expenses such as: plane tickets, hotel, transportation, winter clothes, meals, tournament fees, local volleyball club fees, local volleyball organization fees, his share of the coach's expenses, etc. The total expenses will be approx. $3,000, but we will start with a $1,000 goal.
