Assistance Needed to Rebuild Rice Production Business

I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Munasinghe Arachchige Asanka Geeth Kumara, and I am a resident of Sri Lanka. I am writing to you with a humble request for assistance in rebuilding my business of producing and selling rice.

The inception of my business was fueled by the savings I accumulated while working in Korea. With determination and hard work, I invested these savings into a rice production and distribution venture. We prided ourselves on delivering quality rice, sourced, stored, manufactured, and distributed at cost.

However, in 2023, our business encountered significant challenges. The government implemented price controls on rice, leading to a drastic reduction in prices. Furthermore, the market was flooded with imported rice from India, disrupting local producers like myself. As a consequence, we struggled to sell our stored inventory at sustainable prices. The prevailing instability in the country compounded our difficulties, resulting in minimal collections for rice being distributed.

To navigate these turbulent times, I had to make difficult decisions. I sold assets, including our vehicle, and diligently repaid loans. Presently, my sole source of income is rental earnings, which barely cover expenses, including increased electricity bills. Despite efforts to seek employment abroad, opportunities have been elusive thus far.

The financial strain has impacted my family deeply. With two daughters and both parents to support, we face challenges, including the inability to send our children to Montessori.

I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for assistance in rebuilding my business. Your support would not only aid in restoring financial stability but also enable me to provide for my family's needs and secure a better future for us all.
