Assistance for Valentino’s veterinary bills

Many of you know of Valentino (or Tino as he is fondly known), either personally or from seeing his travels and adventures while sniffing out pet-friendly places in the Western Cape to eat at or stay at. Unfortunately Tino got involved in a hit-and-run on Saturday evening, 20 October 2018, while we were in Hermanus. The story is nothing short of a miracle and he's going to be OK!

Tino's doing very well after surgery and everyone (especially me) is very happy that he doesn't have to lose his leg, only part of some of his toes (digits). However, while he's on the mend, his human is feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the bills. Three vets have been involved trying to save his leg and vet fees are, as we all know, quite steep! I now have two words for every new pet-owner - pet insurance! Unfortunately I don't have pet insurance as as Tino is now 10 years old, we wouldn't have qualified anyway. I am a freelancer and don't earn big bucks, so the bills inching up to R20 000 is a bit scary!

I don't like asking for monetary help as I know everyone has their own bills and problems, but I am putting my pride in my pocket and reaching out to those who know him.

25% will be donated to a local animal clinic
I will be donating 25% of funds received to Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha, who do great work with the animals in the township. I have always believed in paying it forward and they desperately need any funds they can get, especially as they were hit by armed robbers only yesterday.

Tino and I thank you all for being part of our lives and adventures and thank you for caring about us both.
