Dear friends, the funding is needed for publishing and promoting the second part of In the Hug of Arms anthology. The fiction of the women writers who contribute to the first part pays tribute to innocent victims - children and women - caught in armed conflicts. It has been indicated in PEN International Weekly Newsletter - http://youparle.eu/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/PEN-International-Weekly-Newsletter-10-December-2012.htm. The image on the cover is of a small girl from Anzio called Angelita who died from shrapnel wounds at the end of World War II. The contributors to the Anthology are from Uganda, Somalia, Ireland, Russia, Belgium, Angola, the municipality of Anzio (Italy), Pakistan, Lebanon and Bulgaria. The texts are in English, French, Urdu, Somali, Russian (all texts are accompanied by translations into English).
The second part will shed light on similar stories, with a focus on refugee children and women. It will embrace, too, a supplement of different national stories that go back to identity building.
Please support our endeavours to call for respecting human rights and shared values; for solidarity; for compassion and humanism.
"Millions of children around the world have spent their whole lives in a war zone - more than 3.7 million of them in Syria alone. Often denied proper nurturing, love and care, their emotions are constantly on high alert. Toxic stress is having a huge impact on the development of millions of children." (credit: Theirworld.org)
