Campaign Story
Hello, everyone! We're here to raise funds for Ari, a sweet and lovable Belgian Malinois that my friend and I rescued. Ari was rescued alongside a puppy named Meti from a city shelter on the same day. They became kennel mates, and both had bright futures planned for them in the USA. Meti successfully made his way to the USA, where he was adopted and now enjoys his forever home.
Ari's turn was next. About a month after Meti's departure, we found a rescue that was willing to take her. As we prepared her for travel and took her to the vet for a health clearance, we received some challenging news. Ari tested positive for leishmaniasis, a Mediterranean disease caused by sandflies. This condition is uncommon in the USA, and many rescues there do not accept dogs with leishmaniasis because vets lack experience in treating it. However, in Europe, many dogs can lead long, healthy lives after treatment, and we're hopeful that this will be the case for Ari.
We've run her blood work and a biochemical analysis, and her results look promising for living with leishmaniasis. Ari will need 28 days of medication with clinic stays, along with a year of taking a specific pill. Furthermore, during our time with Ari, we discovered that she hadn't been spayed, so that's an additional procedure she'll need after her treatment.
Let's come together to help this kind and sweet dog, Ari, have the happy ending she deserves, just like Meti. Your support means the world to us and to Ari.
