Fair Trade Centre & Business Premises

We are a new business that imports artwork, handicrafts and bespoke furniture from South East Asia - all based on fair trade principals. We are turning to gogetfunding.com to help us establish ourselves on high street and raise the profile of fair trade products. The money raised would be put towards funding a shop on the high street in South Devon where we would not only sell the artwork, handicrafts and bespoke furniture but also be a base where we could promote fair trade to a wider audience.

The business in in its infancy, established in May 2015, after returning from a teaching post in Indonesia and wanting to improve artisans living in poverty by giving them a chance to lead a fairer, better life. While at the same time wanting to be able to bring some of the most beautiful and unique items from the different cultures around the world and sell them to people in the UK and further!

Having been associated with Fair Trade for many, many years we have always looked for opportunities to promote the values and principles to family and friends. As a teacher I used to encourage children to find out more about Fair Trade through thematic approaches to learning which used to raise the children’s awareness – after all they are the future! We believe that every human being has a right to lead a happy life, and by establishing Archipelago Treasures it will help provide financial security and honest trade to many families of skilled craftsmen and women living across Indonesia whom we work with.
