Campaign Story
My life changed forever on May 8, 2007, when an 11 year old girl came to live with me. She reminded me of a little waif...the one you see on the posters for Les Miserables. She was my foster child...at least that was my plan. God had other plans. She is now 17 years old and is my daughter.
Paul write in Phillipians 1:1 how he exclaims to God when he thinks of the Phillipians. That is how I feel about Elisabeth. Our God is truly amazing.
Why am I telling you about Elisabeth? Because she is central to how God is working in our lives. In the fall of 2009, we attended a fundraising dinner for the Arabian Oasis. Magdy Behman, a founder, spoke. He set Elisabeth's heart on fire for the Arab people and reaching out to Muslims.
I have supported her over the past few years in her study of Arabic, special projects focusing on the Arab world. I felt she was in good hands as long as she was mentored by Magdy. They have now teamed up for her Senior Expo Project that involves taking a group of people to an orphanage in Eygpt. Magdy is her mentor in this endeavor.
As I have sat on the sidelines watching in amazement as my daughter continues to grow into a loving young woman with a heart for the Arab world, God has been at work in me.
In late April, Kathryn Farris asked me to meet with her, Judy Walters, and Magdy Behman to see what I might be able to do to help with database and computer systems.
This was not my passion, but hers.
Invitation
Please join me in this ministry. It starts with the Arabian Oasis and reaching out to the Arabs in our Tucson community to build relationships with them. You can be part of this ministry by joining us for various events held each month.
