Appin and Port Appin are located in Argyll on the beautiful west coast of Scotland. Appin Skiff is a community project to build a St Ayles skiff rowing boat and take part in the sport of coastal sea rowing along with other seaside communities around Argyll & The Isles.
Appin Skiff is for everyone in the local community - we're committed to involving adults of all ages, local children and teenagers. Every stage of the project will benefit the community - building the boat, training as a team and getting out on the water.
Commitment to a shared vision, a sense of teamwork & companionship, learning new skills, increased physical exercise and the fun of rowing at Port Appin are all reasons why Appin Skiff is more than building a boat and rowing her on the sea. It's about local people investing time and energy in our community, inspiring a younger generation to get involved in traditional boat building and to value the beautiful natural environment in which we live.
Please help us to raise the funds to buy the boat kit, so that everyone in the community can get involved, help build the boat and get out on the water and have fun rowing as a team.
All sums great and small will be much appreciated. We are well on our way to raising the funds we need for the skiff kit but there’s a way to go – paint, varnish, other wood, tools, insurance, buoyancy aids, safety equipment and so on.
If you donate over £25 you'll also become a club member, so you can come along and join us messing about in our boat!
Thanks for reading. All donations will be gratefully received.
