Provide children visiting the Emergency Room at hospitals with small toys to relieve stress & anxiety. These stuffed animal giveaways, ready-to-hug toys, help distract children from the confusion and given them relief from fear of the unknown.
I am an Emergency Room RN at the Maui Memorial Medical Center, Hawaii and I started a pilot project called, "Anxiety Buddies for Children" (ABC) 2 years ago providing give away huggable toys to injured children receiving care in the emergency room. I witnessed first hand its success in bringing comfort to these children and their parents under the high stress environment of the ER. Patient and staff feed back has been very encouraging; however, in order to keep the project growing I can no longer continue to self fund this project due to increasing cost, therefore, I've decided to embark on this funding campaign to keep the project growing to include other hospitals in the State and beyond. If you are interested in participating in this project then please spread the word through your various social media networks. Thank you.
