Amature Radio Station

US$0.00raised of $750.00 goal goal
I am working on getting my Amature radio station up and going - I had my expensive antenna stolen out of my backyard, so I am gathering funds to be able to install a new antenna on top of the apartments here - which is going to requre the puchasing of a new antenna, mounting brackets, and cable. I would like to also purchase a new radio, which would double the communication capacity of my current station.
During a disaster such as an earthquake, tsunami, wildfire, and even a windstorm people could be without power and telephone service (including cell phone) for days, weeks, or even months afterwards - one of the best forms of communication in those conditions is HAM Radio. Once I get the station up, I will once again be able to provide emergency communications for my community and other agencies 9as needed) during just about any type of disaster.
WHAT IS HAM RADIO?
The FCC established amateur radio as a voluntary, non-commercial, radio communications service. It allows licensed operators to improve their communications and technical skills, while providing the nation with a pool of trained radio operators and technicians who can provide essential communications during emergencies.
Here is how I plan on using the money donated:
Yaesu FT-8800 Radio | $445.00 |
50' Coaxial Cable (RG-58u) | $40.00 |
Antenna | $40.00 |
Antenna Mounts | $15.00 |
Rig blaster plug-and play | $100 |
Battery back-up | $50 |
Battery Trickle Charger / Maintainer | $40 |
