My Uncle Carlos and the gang headed back out east on Sunday after a nice visit.  Hope they're making plans now to come see me in L.A.!

Our friend Laurel also drove down from Minnesota to spend the weekend with my mom and me before we head out.  Laurel has lots of fun stories about babysitting me when I was little.  Wish we had time to go see all our friends in Minnesota...but time is flying!

I have secured housing.  I wanted to live close to campus.  My mom and I were looking at possible apartments for me to rent.  But, we decided it'd probably be best to just stay on campus for the first year.  That will keep me near school and give me a chance to get familiar with the area and find a nice (and affordable) place to live next year.  I'm my room will be at Seaver, the one residence hall on the Health Sciences Campus.  It's a simple 10x10 kind of room I'm renting as a single.

It comes equipped with a small frig, microwave and in-room bathroom.  There's a common kitchen on each floor in case I want to cook a meal. As my mom pointed out, me and the stove are not best of buddies anyway, so this should work out just fine.  We have to send the $800 security deposit by Thursday to secure my room.  Happy and relieved to have it squared away.

Now the final logistical piece is securing my parking.  There are three lots for me to choose from near Seaver.  The closet is about two blocks away, the furthest is 4-5 blocks away.  I need to pay $280 for the parking for the semester to get a parking assignment.  This week I have to take care of the housing bill.  My plan is to pay for the parking spot next week.  Spots are limited so hoping they don't sell out the close lots before I can pay.  My mom and I had the same thought, that I can ride my bike to and from the parking lot if I end up with a spot in the far lot.  My own version of planes, trains and automobiles!

Hooray!  My enrollment packet from USC finally arrived.  I officially accepted the offer and now have my USC ID number and email address.  Funny enough, my email name is the same at USC as it was at UW-Madison.

I can now enroll in classes but I'm waiting for them to review syllabi from classes I took at UWM (I did a certificate in Public Health at UWM) to see what's eligible to transfer.  I can transfer in up to 12 credits.  This would be great for two reasons.  First, it would free me up to take some of the more advanced classes I would like to take.  Second, it would save a lot of money!

I'm hoping to hear some time this week about what USC will accept.  Keep you fingers crossed for me!

I'd like to send out a BIG thanks to my cousin Rena and Sand for setting up a surprise party for me before I head out to USC. Rena unfortunately caught my wrath before I was actually aware of the party. Sorry girlfriend! Lol. Also, a thanks you to all who were able to come and/or sent their love.
