Campaign Story
When my son Jake was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in 2012, life as we knew it fell apart. I lost my job, working in hospitality and was forced to move in 24/7 beside my ailing son indefinitely as we began his treatments. The loss of my income created an instant strain on us financially, I was consumed with my new found mission to try and save his life. I was put in contact with a woman named Martine Lemay, a sweet and compassionate woman from the Alecxange foundation. Together with her partner Isabelle Royer they started the Alecxange foundation after both of their sons had passed away due to cancer. These are two mothers running homes, working day jobs, and doing this benevolent work out of the kindness of their hearts. They felt that there was a lack of support for families with a sick child. Understanding the toll it takes on families, they began fundraising and ultimately offering support to families like mine. What struck me most about this organization was the fact that they extended the support, while maintaining my dignity and optimism. On several occasions while I was in the hospital, I received by mail, gift cards for both groceries and gas, both extremely helpful along with a few encouraging words. This care package brought me such relief and comfort. I was and will always be tremendously grateful towards these to beautiful women for their love and support during the most trying time in my life. That is why I am launching this fundraiser in an effort to support them and their mission to support families through times of hardship. Please help me by supporting them, so they can continue helping families like mine.
