Campaign Story
For those who still have their humanity intact, hello. My name is Sarah Hartzell. I am hosting this fundraiser from the United States on behalf of the Al-Najjar family in Gaza, to help them survive and escape the genocide. I am in direct contact with Yazan and Areej, a brother and a sister of the family, currently located in Rafah.
Due to the increased bombardment, food scarcity, and lack of basic necessities for life, the Al-Najjar family has made the heartbreaking decision to evacuate their homeland in order to protect their family.
Displacement has been kind to no one, and this family is no exception. The elements are hard on people and children who are starving, dehydrated and have inadequate shelter to shield them. They have no source of income for the skyrocketing food prices due to aid being blocked by the occupation at the borders. There is very little food, water, medicine, and hygiene products available. What is available is very, very expensive.
Their mother, Najat, has diabetes and has been entering diabetic comas frequently due to the food scarcity and lack of medication. Their father has nerve issues and desperately needs his medication.
Recently, Areej was hospitalized due to severe dehydration and sickness from living in unbearable conditions in the tent camps. While she was hopspitalized, the occupation dropped fire belts adjacent to the hospital building.
This family also has multiple children to care for. Areej’s daughter has been experiencing cardiac episodes due to the constant trauma and fear, and requires medical treatment.
As the violence increases and the occupation begins its invasion of Rafah, it is more important than ever to donate to help these families. We are not powerless to help them. Please donate what you can and share this link WIDELY so we can find more donors.
This family has become my own. Please help me evacuate them from certain death.
