African Dawn Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary

African Dawn is a registered NPO (2015/055934/08) dedicated to rescuing orphaned, injured and sick birds and wildlife in South Africa, and providing them with a safe haven to live out their lives to their full potential. We receive no external funding and rely heavily on international volunteers that come and help out with the everyday park operations and help fund our running costs, as well as donations from the public.

Just an update on what’s happening at African Dawn, thankfully we somehow managed to survive this Covid crisis but unfortunately we are not out of the woods yet. We want to say a big thankyou to all our loyal supporters and to the long term staff who worked tirelessly during the worst of the lockdown to ensure the wellbeing of the sanctuary residents.

The last 2 years have really depleted our savings in order to ensure the wellbeing of our resident birds and animals; as well as that of our staff members. We are very happy that international volunteers are returning again, even though it is in reduced numbers compared to pre-covid. So we are appealing for help once again! Our enclosures desperately need and upgrade as we were unable to do this during lockdown due to financial restraints. If you can help us we will be so grateful! All proceeds will make a massive difference by enabling us to continue to feed and care for all our animals and keep the park running but most importantly get back into all the projects we have planned.
