My dear friends, I’m reaching out to you today because my daughters and I are in a financial emergency and in need of immediate help.

Without warning, my ex took it upon himself to stop paying me support effective this month. As a result, I was served with a 3- day notice to pay rent or quit on January 8 ^th. Before I could find a solution, I became very ill and ended up being admitted to the hospital for 10 days with serious health complications that I am still trying to recover from. Upon my release from the hospital this week, I was served with a summons for eviction.

In addition to my current living emergency, I am also faced with a time sensitive custody conflict that requires my immediate attention for the emotional health and welfare of my daughters. I have found an amazing firm equipped with the expertise to handle this type of case and they have agreed to take me on as their client but require a retainer that I don’t currently have.

My ex has been less than forthcoming with his financial status and despite him being aware of my current health and us being faced with an eviction, he has no intention to pay the support. Once paid, my attorneys will fight to recover some of those costs, but it will likely take time, of which I don’t have the luxury of.

As a stay at home mom for the duration of my 9-year relationship (most of my adult life) who left when my youngest was only 1-year-old, it’s taken more time than I expected to get my bearings and figure out how I will support us. Happily, I now have it figured out and am currently in a certification program that will certify me as an expert in social media and internet marketing. In a few months’ time, things will look much better for me financially. But unfortunately, that doesn’t help us NOW.

I have no desire to take our daughters away from their dad; but as their protector I must put safeguards in place to limit visitation while he undergoes counseling to learn how to interact with our girls in a healthy, safe, and happy way. When dealing with the type of personality of my ex, the only way to achieve that is through the help of the court.
