Abbey’s Medical Bills

Our Abbey is a 4 year old lab who is just as sweet as they come. She has been in our program for two years along with her sister Guerra. We have freed them from the chain by building them a fence last year and a repair on the fence this summer after a car ran into it. She is spayed, vaccinated, on heartworm preventatives and given love and attention.  Abbey's owner's do well by her and as you can see, she doesn't want for food :) On Saturday Aug 10th, the gates to her fence were opened (we do not know by whom) and Abbey got out. When her owner returned from work andfounder her missing she  searched high and low. Upon returning to her home she found Abbey inside the yard with large wounds. The owner told her daughter but due to lack of resources and a language barrier we were not notified. The owner did try to help Abbey by giving her an over the counter pain med, but it was not enough.  We were notified on Monday (by another family member who reached out for help) and we immediately sent Abbey to the Emergency Vet Hospital. Abbey's wounds are large, necrotic and deep. She was in a lot of pain and that doctor suggested we euthanize Abbey. We were not ready to give up on this girl. We had them keep her comfortable with pain meds, antibiotics until the morning. Dr. Butto at Cahill Veterinary Hospital looked over Abbey and determined that with some surgery, pain control and hospitalization Abbey can recover. This is of course as long as no internal injuries are present. Abbey's injuries are consistent with a car accident. The estimate for her care at this point is between $1,200.00- $1,500 dollars.  If you can spare a few dollars to help our Abbey we will be so very grateful! Thank you all.
