A New Home for the New Year

Hello, my name is CeliaSue Hecht. I am a writer/editor and co-author of several books. I just spent two weeks in the hospital with pneumonia (bacterial) at the age of 70.

I left the home I was living in for four years in 2014 due to domestic abuse and violence.

Spent the last few nights in my car again and it was brutally cold and I could barely breathe. Am moving into a low income apartment on December 30th and need to get through the next two weeks without getting really sick (my doctor’s words) again.

I am disabled with a severe heart murmur (that will need to be fixed), congestive heart failure and recently had second breast cancer surgery.

I cannot find work even though I am a published writer and editor. Lost a great job last year due to loss of a major donor/funder for the nonprofit.

For the past few years, with the help of my handy laptop computer (my only valuable possession), I have written and distributed a number of hard-hitting articles about the problems of senior women without homes including the following: (there are 1,000+ women in this area alone without homes and 50% of those without homes in the USA are 50+ and 65+

Eventually, when my health improves, I want to create an organization to advocate specifically for senior women with pets who do not have homes.

Why are grandmas and grandpas sleeping on the streets and in cars in America?

With your help, I can stay in a motel / hotel over Christmas so that I can move into my new place (have not had a place of my own in a very very very long time) without having to go to the hospital again for another bout of pneumonia.
