I am fundraising to help refugees arriving into Northern Greece (border with Serbia Macedonia) and embark on the extremely difficult journey into Europe. As you probably know, the political/economical situation in Greece is very bad... nevertheless the main people on the ground helping the thousands refugees arriving every day are volunteers, people who have very few themselves but are showing amazing generosity (just very few NGOs currently on the ground proving mainly medical assistance). The story every night at the Greek border of Eidomeni is on repeat but increasingly upsetting. People are arriving there hungry, weak, dehydrated, injured, no shoes, no coats, many children amongst them with hypothermia...And I cannot stop thinking how will these people get across Europe, what will happen when winter settles in, what if the volunteers can't afford to provide any more meals for them or give them some dry clothes to warm them up...and i know that we can't help everyone.... but I hope that everyone can help.. and so I decided to help..so i am working with volunteers at the greek border to create small packs of food/toiletries/waterproofs that wil be handed out to the refugees at the Greek border of Eidomeni to help them with their long journey into the heart of Europe. I am also planning to travel to greece mid November for 2 days and use some of the money raised to buy food and also create some "survival" back packs for them with travel necKessities. I will then work with the volunteers there to distribute these to the refugees.I am also collecting clothes/shoes locally which I will take with me to distribute (probably only a couple of suitcases) so pls get in touch if you have any of these. All your donations will be used to buy food and will be distributed directly to the people in need. I am self-funding my trip and my living costs whilst there so I promise that every single penny you spare will be used to improve the living conditions of the refugees. Thank you so much for supporting my initiative.
