Our 24 year old son, Jean, was born with a mental disability. He has the brain capacity of an 11 year old. He is the biggest SHARKS rugby fan you could ever find. He always wanted to play rugby but because of a shunt in his brain draining the excess fluids to his stomach, he couldn't play contact sports. His biggest dream is to also watch a Sharks rugby game on their home ground and meet the team. Because he cannot work and look after himself we are forced to have him living in a protective home for adults with mental disabilities. They have a few boarding houses for permanent residents and then they have day visitors where the "children" come for the day while the parents are at work. The "children" and I call them children even though some of them are in their 40s or 50s, do small chores from 8 in the morning until 13h00 in the afternoon. Some companies "employ" them to pack sponges etc. for stimulation. Unfortunately after lunch there are no activities or stimulation for the permanent residents. I have many times left the premises there in tears, we often forget how blessed we are to have normal able bodied children. My son is relatively fine if you compare him to some of the other "children" there who are much worse than he is. We would like to get funding to help Jean and his friends have a better more stimulating life. Maybe build a put put coarse or have someone come in the afternoon to give art classes etc. We need to keep these children stimulated and happy. Many organisations don't get any government assistance and they are depending on donations from the parents, public or businesses to make ends meat.

Please help us by giving Jean and his friends a happy and stimulated life, it is the least we can do for these less fortunate "children".
