Carl's StoryCarl Robert Hickson was born on 5th August 1981 in a British army base in Paddaborn, Germany to his parents Denise and Robert Hickson.Unfortunately from an extremely young age Carl became blind and could no longer enjoy the beautiful colours of this world, things we take for granted.Despite his lack of sight, Carl did not let it hold him back. He still made the most of his precious life, making many friends, memories, and never failing to be a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day.In the early 2000's Carl found out he had a brain tumour and under went an operation and radiotherapy to try and remove it. Initially this appeared to be successful. But in a matter of years the tumor began to grow back, meaning yet another operation and a harsh course of chemotherapy for Carl.Unfortunately this time the treatment was unsucessful and Carl's health began to deteriorate rapidly.Sadly on 19th July 2012 at the tender age of 30 Carl passed away at home.A reminder for us all life is way to short.Carl may have been just a chapter for many peoples book of life, but its a chapter filled with happy times, sad times, fun times and times they will never forget. Carls book may have ended. but with this butterfly the memory of Carl can take flight. We are Carl's Fund... seeking to raise money for a Memorial Butterfly in honour of Carl Robert Hickson. Please help us raise money to give Carl his wings.  * All donations appreciated no matter how small*Link to Where Carl's butterfly will be : http://www.twmuseums.org.uk/great-north-museum/the-butterfly-wall.html                            Thank You.
