A boat named school

The French International School in Podgorica opened its doors in September 2018, welcoming 15 students.

Its first years were eventful, with repeated changes of team, structure and a health crisis to go through.

But always, the families remained faithful, finding a different model of education from the one offered locally, with an international opening.

In September 2021, an almost new team arrived at the school. It has taken charge of this boat after these stormy crossings with a deep motivation to carry out a project of international school, human, committed to the protection of the environment and where the good life together is essential. It is fully based on the French national education curriculum, while being multilingual and open to diversity, with teaching in three languages from nursery school.

This year, the school has 32 pupils, the majority of whom are Montenegrin but also French, English, Russian, Dutch, Nigerian, Italian, etc.

Like all unpredictable things, our little school, until now attached to a group of French schools, will have to take off to become independent in June 2022.

This unexpected prospect has pushed the whole of this small educational community to roll up its sleeves. There is no question of abandoning our school and all its young passengers who amaze us every day.

So, buoyed by this collective energy, we are ready to set sail for the start of the 2022 school year, with 45 pupils to welcome, beautiful projects to build, an NGO school structure and a committed team.

To finalize the departure, we need to invest. We want to create a multilingual library, equip the kindergarten with a Montessori space, install a mini-laboratory for the secondary school and improve the layout of the building to make it more suitable for school use. Our fundraising campaign will help us to finance those improvements.

This is an essential help to keep this school alive and to allow it to pass the milestone that it is ready to cross today.
