Well...this is a bit different so firstly, thank you for taking the time to read into this. I'm Leenette Hadebe (24) and I was recently given the opportunity to attend CAMP 2030 - the United Nations, Sustainable Development Goals, anticipated to take place in New York from 14-19 September 2020 (this is subject to changes according to the response of COVID-19 however). With both my parents being pensioners has made me opt to raise funds for this opportunity ( $2,779 /R48,807.00 by May, 1st 2020).
As a female of African descendant my interests lie in gender studies particularly in women empowerment and having this platform of engagement would be paramount as to expressing my recommendations/views on tackling sustainable development goal 5: gender equality.
This initiative will include 6 packed days of learning including innovation, hands-on training, and an environment where I can gain unique insights into how to create sustainable impact in my community, as well as grow my leadership skills and connect with young leaders from all over the world.
I speak for myself to say that I was fortunate to be empowered by the women around me – I hope to exert the same energy and empower others a long my journey in some form (still figuring it all out).
Lastly, I would like to thank the people around me who have motivated me during this time/backed me up and reminded me to never dim this light of mine.

Airfare: $1,209/ R21,271 (calculated at current highest market value and subject to time of booking of course)
