My nephew Aeryus Emmanuel Tugao Cagata was born this morning on 11/20/2019 at 2:24 A.M. in Cebu, Philippines. When he was born, he never cried once. He never cried because he was born with a condition called Meconium Aspiration Syndrome. As stated on msdmanuals.com this condition occurs when stress causes the fetus to take forceful gasps, so that the amniotic fluid containing meconium is breathed (aspirated) in and deposited into the lungs. After delivery, the aspirated meconium may block the newborn's airways and cause regions of the lungs to collapse. Sometimes airways are only partially blocked, allowing air to reach the parts of the lung beyond the blockage but preventing it from being breathed out. Thus, the involved lung may become over-expanded. When a portion of the lung continues to over-expand, it can rupture and then collapse the lung. Air may then accumulate within the chest cavity around the lung (pneumothorax). He is also low on sugar, and the doctor says this may have had an effect on his brain as well. Before we had to leave the hospital this morning, my nephew had to be revived 5 times so far. This was over an hour ago at this point. As it is now 12:17 PM The hospitals here will do very little until payments are made, and as much as I would like to be able to be in the position to help. My hands are literally tied without the help of friends and family at this point. Urgency is of the essence at this point. As the hospitals here need payment prior to doing any REAL attempt to heal. Thank you for any help that is given. Any amount will go extremely far here in the Philippines and is greatly appreciated.
