Greetings. My name is Ayanda Masina and I am 30 years old, I identify as queer, I reside in South Africa, and I am humbly requesting help from the broader community in order to further my tertiary studies. My wish is to study Marketing Finance and Accounting, with aspirations to learn more about financial management and accounting in the NGO sector. I am a firm believer that adequate and thorough financial management skills, can help NGOs succeed in the important work that they do for community, by being reliable and accountable to donors, and ensuring sustainability.

I am also a co-founder of an LGBTIQ group based in the east of Johannesburg and our work is to advocate for LGBTIQ rights and raise awareness around gender and sexual diversity in our community. After extensive experience in the NGO sector, I have learned that most of the money used for community work comes from funders and this needs to be accounted for with every cent spent. I aspire to continue to volunteer in grassroots organisations that cannot afford to hire an accountant, in order to continue serving my community to the best of my ability within my skill set.

I am the 1st of 5 siblings, with no parents or support system. My aim is to further my studies in order to develop and grow professionally and to support my family and community. I currently engage in numerous business ventures in order to make a living, but none of these initiatives have yielded anything sustainable thus far. I had to drop out of college due to financial strains and since then I have volunteered at numerous human rights organisations because I am passionate about helping the LGBTIQ community.

I believe that by furthering my education, I can help make a meaningful contribution to the South African civil society sector and beyond. I am confident that with your help and donations I can achieve more in life and I am driven to succeed by pursuing my studies with passion and dedication. Any donation from as little as R100, will be appreciated and will help me to reach my goal. Thank you for taking the time to read my request for assistance to further my studies.
