Campaign Story
"Life can change in the blink of an eye". This became the reality for the van Rhyn family from Phalaborwa on Friday evening, 27 August 2021. Gideon and Marizan have been blessed with three beautiful children.
They experienced a life-changing moment when they received news that their brave 3 year old daughter, Luelle, had Leukemia. News that no parent ever wants to hear. The carefree and happy lifestyle of the van Rhyn family suddenly had to confront disbelief, shock and fear. Unknown territory for the family.
The following day (after being referred to Pretoria), it was determined that Luelle has ALL type Leukemia. "Treatable" became a word of hope and the compass on this unfamiliar road. Monday, a mere 3 days after receiving the news, Warrior Luelle had to endure her first session of chemotherapy.
The road forward for Luelle to be cancer-free requires a minimum of 6 to 9 months of intensive treatment and chemotherapy in Pretoria. This entails that Marizan, Luelle and Muller (their 1 year old son), must move in with family. Gideon and Eben (their eldest 6 year old) must travel on a weekly basis between Phalaborwa and Pretoria (a 5 hour drive one way).
Marizan owns a salon in Phalaborwa and is the only stylist. She will still have to pay running costs for the salon in the next few months while they will be relying on one salary as Marizan will not be able to generate an income during the duration of Luelle's treatment in Pretoria. The added costs of this daunting journey are adding up exponentially.
As friends and family of the van Rhyn family, who are witnessing glimpses of the drastic changes to their reality, it is near impossible to explain and comprehend what they are experiencing. But, this will be a story of hope, as Luelle's life will become a testimony of our Heavily Father's love, grace and healing.
The van Rhyn family means so much to so many people and they are always there to support others without questions.
It is now our turn, as their friends and family, to take hands to support them emotionally, spiritually and financially. Any donation towards the van Rhyn family's journey, no matter how big or small, would make a difference to ease some of the challenges that lie ahead.
Please continue to keep Luelle and her family in your prayers.
"Luelle, you can do all things through Me, your Heavily Father, who will strengthen you. Don't be afraid, as I have called you by your name and for I am with you. When you go through deep waters, they will not sweep over you, when you walk through flames, you will not be burned as I will be your wall of fire. I know the plans that I have for your life, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

“Wherever he went — villages, cities, or farming communities — they would place the sick in the marketplaces and beg him to allow them to touch even the hem of his clothing. Everyone who touched him was healed.” — Mark 6:56 The Lord’s healing grace is available to all who approach with a faithful heart.May her health be restored in Jesus name.
