We welcome you all to join us for our 'Cycle-21 Challenge' to raise funds for teachers and children in Mae Sot and Myanmar. At this time of extreme crisis in Myanmar, we are offering hope for the future and giving children their basic human right to receive an education.
Mr van den Berg is attempting to cycle 2100km in June, plus a one-off 210km cycle, and a 21 hour week on the bike - all to raise money.
Mobile Education Partnerships (MEP) is an award winning UK based charity working in Myanmar and on the Thai/Myanmar border. In partnership with Harrow international School, MEP has supported the migrant and refugee communities to achieve Cambridge KEY and PET exams in Mae Sot and Mae La refugee camp since 2011, providing them with improved life chances. Your support is even more vital at this time of conflict and oppression in Myanmar which is leading to more children being displaced from their homes.
All money raised will help our vitally important work to train teachers in extremely disadvantaged conditions on the Thai/Myanmar border. Due to Covid-19 MEP and Harrow have been unable to work on the Thai/Myanmar border for the past year. However, a new online Teacher Training programme is being piloted in Kachin State with displaced communities. These funds will help this programme be implemented more widely and for face to face work in Mae Sot resume as soon as restrictions are lifted.

Thursday 24th - that's almost 1650 for the month

Update posted by Rob Gordon at 12:44 amJust over half way through the month and as of the 17th, I have completed 1198.98km - almost 10km ahead of schedule. Today I will try and ride indoors, and tomorrow I may well do the 210, depending on how I feel. Sunday, it is back to Khao Yai, where

Update posted by Rob Gordon at 12:22 amAlmost averaged 34 - not bad for a 12 year old! Falling about 80k behind schedule but no need for panic. Will claw back a few of the km's today, a few more tomorrow and then the weekend will catch up!

Update posted by Rob Gordon at 04:20 am10 days into the challenge and still on schedule with 748.2km done. A big weekend ahead with a 120+ cycle tomorrow then some hills in Khao Yai on Sunday with the family.
