Campaign Story
The true measure of one’s journey in life is somewhat simple. Our purpose as humans is to leave this place better than we found it . To understand that our lives are only bettered through bettering the lives of those around us. Klipsop Kombuis is an NPO that not only understands this concept, they live by it.
Kathleen Mngomezulu had a dream. A dream whereby she got to make a difference in someone else’s life. 5 years ago, with the assistance of her husband Elliot and her daughter Leanne Haas ,that dream is now a reality. After injecting over R200 000 into this project and working tirelessly,Klipsop Kombuis was born. Located on the corner of fourth and fifth street in Springs Geduld,It now feeds a little over 1000 people weekly.
Imagine for a moment , a stone and a massive body of water. When that stone is dropped into the body of water,it causes ripples .Klipsop Kombuis is that stone, and their surrounding community and other charities are the body of water. To explain it simply:Kathleen makes large amounts of delicious and nutritious soup and this soup is then distributed to other organizations to feed the poor . Without Klipsop Kombuis it is impossible for the other charities to feed their people . Klipsop’s actions cause a ripple effect of positive upliftment.
How much soup are we talking exactly?Well to put it into perspective,on a daily basis Kathleen and Elliot ,with the assistance of volunteers, will cook :
•200 Liters of soup for Sithandizingane ,an organization that regularly feeds -/+ 800 children
•60 Liters of Rice stew and gravy for the Geduld Methodist food truck ,which feeds between 60-150 homeless people
•40 Liters of soup for the children of Never-Never informal settlement
•20 Liters of soup for the pensioners of Markville retirement home .
As you can see , Klipsop Kombuis is hard at work, touching the lives of hundreds.
What do we need from you?
In the beginning Klipsop Kombuis was self-funded by Kathleen’s catering business. But the nationwide lockdown has lead to the shutting down of Kathleens business, leaving Klipsop without funding. However ,they still have expenses to pay. They receive food donations from PicknPay and have a few sponsors, but not enough. The more sponsors they have, the more mouths they can feed.So we’re simply asking you to get involved! Click the Donate button and give money towards a cause that changes lives. If money is a little tight during these difficult times then we are asking you to give of your time. Klipsop is open to anyone willing to volunteer, they could use all the help they can get.
So will you help make a difference? Will you show human kindness by helping to fill the stomach of a stranger? Will you leave your mark by leaving this place better than you found it? Because the truth is,We are only human through the grace and humanity of others .
