Help me help others abroad!

Hi everyone! I’m currently studying to get my Child and Youth Care advanced diploma. My dream has forever been to volunteer abroad. I’m planning to travel out to Cartagena, Colombia to take part in IVHQ’s childcare volunteering program. This way, I’ll be able to gain direct hands on experience in my field all the while making a positive impact on the young people of Colombia. It’ll cost me $4,000CAD + the flights + housing to take on this project for 4 months!

Through this childcare volunteer project, I'll be supporting various childcare centres in Cartagena by easing the workload for local workers. I will work with children ranging in age from babies to 18 years old, who are in desperate need of affection, attention and education. I will play an invaluable role in providing knowledge, care and attention to these children and I'll be able to join in with games, song and dance, reading and writing lessons, meal times and basic chores. I'll either be placed in a day care centre or a foundation for children with cancer. I'll post an update once I find out where exactly they will be placing me!
