Raising Money for My Sci-Fi Book Series

Who Are You?
My
name is R. R. Washburn. I have aspired to be writer ever since my first
grade teacher gave me a pencil and paper and told us kids to write
stuff.
Since then, I have written over ten (unpublished) novels
ranging from urban fantasy to science fiction to horror. Only in 2007,
after the death of my mother, I suffered several years of severe
depression that crippled my ability to write.
It wasn't until one
day while wading through the tedium of the cubicle barnyard lifestyle
that was my full-time job did I start rewriting an old draft of mine
from high school,
Seraphim ASCENT. Before long, I had rekindled my love of writing and my desire to publish once again.
Finishing
the first book I had written after my mother's death was a huge
eye-opener for me, reminding me why I write, and that this was something
I have always wanted to do since I was a little girl.
What Do You Need The Money For?
My goal now is to publish the second installment, Seraphim STORM, as well as a short prequel novel, What the Thunder Said, sometime by early 2016. I aim to be prolific by potentially publishing the third installment sometime this year as well, Seraphim PINION.
All
contributions will be utilized entirely to support my series. It will
help fund my cover artist, as well as any beta readers that I
need to hire in order to publish a quality manuscript. When you break it
down, you will not only supporting me as the writer, but you'll also be
supporting an
artist as well any editors that I hire.
Remaining funds will go towards me following my dream, including:
- promotional efforts such as blog tours
- ordering paperbacks
- swag for the perks
- publishing future titles from novels, novellas, and short stories
What Happens If You Don't Reach Your Goal?
Worry
not! You will still receive your perks and walk away with fuzzy
feelings and the knowledge that you have played a part in supporting my
dream. If I don't hit my goal, the money will go to paying off my cover
artists, as well as the editing.
Other Ways You Can Help...
- Every bit helps, actually! Even if it's just a little fiver. :)
-
Get the word out! Share it with your friends and family. Blog it. Tweet
it. Post about it to Facebook. If you know anyone who has any love for
science fiction, dystopia, apocalyptic and horror stories with with
strong leading ladies and don't mind LGBT representation, then make
noise! Like I said, every little bit helps.
- Share, share, share the love!
So What's This Series You're Writing About?
On September 2014, I published my first novel, Seraphim ASCENT. It explores the story of a woman named Rey, who awakens in the morgue
of an abandoned asylum with only a toe tag to her name and no memory as
to how she got there. She finds herself in a mid-Twenty-Second Century
dystopian society, where the United States as we know it has been
divided into two governments from the east and west. As the story
progresses and more about Rey's identity is revealed, her past will beg
to question if the truth is a skeleton she wants digging out of the
closet. The series itself covers several themes, including idenr
Seraphim ASCENT was a huge milestone for me. Not
only did it inspire me to reconnect with a piece of myself I thought I
had lost, it's also taken me down a journey of self-discovery as well.
PROJECT SERAPHIM
as a whole explores identity with characters who have endured their own
share of loss and suffering, and eventually becomes something more.
In Seraphim STORM,
I take the story a step further by exploring relationships between
characters, ranging from romantic, to friendship, to family. I wanted to
write a story focusing on main characters who happen to be LGBT+ and
strong women fighting against a perilous threat.
You can read more about Seraphim STORM on my official wiki.
