Campaign Story
It's in the scientific literature that year after year of rabies vaccines given in the same location in cats causes feline injection-site sarcoma (cancer). Yet, your vet's office will remind you every year to bring your cat in for their rabies vaccine. One preventive suggestion is to vaccinate only as often as necessary and as infrequently as possible according to the current vaccination guidelines. This information is not generally shared with a cat owner. My cat, Roo, a 8 year old tuxedo, lovable, smart and happy cat developed an osteo-sarcoma in his back right leg. The mass grew quickly even after I asked my local vet about it. It was brushed off as "often cats develop a mass at the injection site". I made some inquires and was referred to an emergency vet clinic. Tests were conducted and it was determined that the leg must come off.
Roo has progressed beautifully with his 3 legs. He is back to going upstairs, jumping on furniture and loving to be cuddled. It is so sad that he has had to go through this trauma of losing his leg. He will never be an outside cat again.
The cost of his emergency surgery came just at Christmas time. $5500 was not in our budget and some people would have said to put him down. I have a soft heart for my boy. I call him my love-muffin because he has such a big heart.
Your contributions to help me pay for his surgery will be a blessing.
Thank you so much!
