Aim2train bridging the gap

Aim2train was formed on 10/03/2011 (I have attached our groups constitution) and started through a Children in need grant. We work in disadvantaged areas within Manchester and provide qualified football coaching to boys and girls in Eccles,Moss Side, Swinton. Alongside the coaching we offer young people aged between sixteen years to twenty-five years the opportunity to gain their Level 1st4sport coaching qualification. Young people can also attend our specially structured course via Work Solutions in which they can gain their English and Maths qualifications. Alongside our weekly sessions we coach in local primary schools,St Chads in Cheetham Hill and St Andrews in Eccles.  Our project gives young local children the opportunity to meet on a weekly basis. Children that would not have normally engaged together will be playing on the same team when playing competitive football games. Parents and carers are always encouraged to stay at sessions and support children. As well as having parents support children whilst being spectators they can also be part of the group gaining their 1s4sport level 1 qualification to help coach the project. Our sessions create local role models and as an addition work to be diversionary in reducing first time offending. Our activities are for any child aged between five years to sixteen years irrespective of ability and the project will not socially exclude any child. Many chartered football clubs are based on playing competitive games and often look for the most elite players in which to win games. Our project is not only based on supporting the best footballers but to increase participation in the local area. We have connections with Manchester City academy and will be playing a friendly match against one of their teams-
