Louise & Michelle’s Uganda Mission

We have always wanted to make a difference in this world... something with a little impact, give back. Through many discussions on how we can make a difference we came across GVN and they have tones of different volunteer opportunities... something about the remote orphan care in Uganda struck a cord with us... we have to go there, and we have to help! Here is a little background information on the program we have chosen:)

We are participating in a volunteer program through an organization called, Global Volunteer Network. GVN is a non–Government organization, based in New Zealand, which places volunteers in a range of community projects in locations such as New Zealand, the Philippines, Ecuador, Nepal and Kenya.

We will be working with GVN's local partner in Uganda from 15 October 2013 for two weeks in the Remote Orphan Care project. We will be working an average of five days a week in the program, with two days to either travel or be involved in extracurricular activities within the community. We will be prepared with a list of potential lessons and activities that she would implement during her volunteer time. Activities included teaching subjects such as English, Math and Science. We also will be working with orphans and underprivileged youth to help with providing structured play, sports and tutoring.

The work that we will undertake is completely voluntary and we do have to pay for all our own GVN's program fee, expenses, including airfares, vaccinations, visa’s and living expenses. Global Volunteer Network greatly appreciates the time and commitment we will give to the program.
