The extreme poverty line in the world today is set at $1.25 (or 80p) per day. Currently worldwide there are 1.4 billion people living in extreme poverty. For one week, a group of UEA development students will also live on 80p a day for food, drink, and other day to day living needs. The people taking part in this challenge will be invited to donate the money they would normally spend on food in this time period.

We are fundraising for our small charity, Ethos which supports missionary charities in South Asia. As well as what Ethos currently supports, we are aiming to extend our support to other charitable projects in our network. The money raised will aim to bring new classrooms to a tsunami affect village and bring a new floor to a girls children's home.

Some of the Ethos team are planning to go out to India in April to visit these projects and see how we can help further.

During the week living under the extreme poverty line, we will spend or consume no more than 80p on food drink and any other day to day needs.

Ethos members pay for all of their expenses and ALL MONEY RAISED WILL GO DIRECTLY INTO DEVELOPMENTS FOR THESE PROJECTS
