8th Avenue dream

My name is Ditebogo Kabasia and I am 21 year old South African. I am just an ordinary young adult with dreams and ambitions that even scar me, in the sense of how they are actually beyond me . All my life I've lived within the borders of how I was raised, being told what is possible and what is not. Never blending in because of how my mind is wired and how I see things. At this young age I have had time to decide on what my purpose is in this world, Film making. Despite it being looked down on in my community, as it is seen as a waste of time or seen as something that is not worth it unlike being a doctor or lawyer. I cant help but embrace that i am a creative and it is something i feel is worth fighting to do. The passion and heart is within this dream i have.

To some extent I feel I am obligated to let people know how I see and understand life. I believe a lot of people go through a lot of problems that are not highlighted amongst other things. Making people understand how we are so similar in the world despite our different situations and environments. I believe one person can change the world. And the best way I see me doing so is through visuals. I am no Einstein or Steven Spielberg but I do believe I can touch a lot of lives through my craft and joint efforts with other creatives around Africa.

Independence is a rare thing for a young adult trying to start something bigger than themselves. If it's not the banks trying to rip us off with insane interest rates, or giving us loans that they know we cannot pay(that is if you even qualify for that loan as you don't have a credit record).If not that its investors that basically take away the control you have over your own company. It becomes really difficult as a young entrepreneur to make the right decisions. Hence a lot of them end up in debt or working in their own companies for someone who contributes nothing but the money you would need to run that company. Imprisoned within your own dream and controlled. It can never be a good thing, which brings me to why I am here.

I need funding for my production company called 8th Avenue Productions. I wish to have it fully running from next year provided I get the funds needed to buy the equipment needed. I'm still studying(last year) film, television and video production at a college in Johannesburg so I have better understanding of how I can put my ideas and visual dreams into existence. The production company is going to be focusing on making a mark as an independent film making company for those who can't afford the Hollywood big budget style type of filming. The company would make this possible by using new age technologies that make it easier to produce high end films at a far more less budget compared to Hollywood. Understanding that a company can't just be sustained with just the creation of independent films. The company will also do videography, photography and graphics amongst other things. The aim of the company is to accommodate to all that is media and entertainment. With those things put in place the company will generate it own money for the production of its films.

I am not just saying to you just put in your money, all I am humbly asking for is that you help a young man get to he's dreams. For you to be a part of what is going to be the extraordinary. I have put my heart on this and I hope that my heart reflects. I really don't know what to expect but I'd rather try than live my whole life thinking about what it could've been like if I had actually written what I wrote here. The money I have asked for is honestly not enough but is an enough start to get the ball rolling towards greatness. Please help me reach my dreams, so that you can also say I put an impact in someone's life. As I will do the same when the time comes, so that eventually the world can see that love and care does still exist in humanity. Passion and heart is all i have at this point, waiting on a helping hand as i keep knocking on different doors that will empower rather than destroy or devour my dreams and ideas.
