Cancer strikes again!

Cancer: 2000

Sharon was originally diagnosed with Melanoma back in 2000. During that period she worked for Southwest Airlines, and had great medical insurance, and paid time-off during her recovery. Since then Sharon decided on a simpler life, moved to the country, bought a small house, and decided a life of less stress was what she needed. Since moving to the country, Sharon has worked hard to make ends meet. Working as many as three jobs. One full-time position at a small business, and also working at a shoe store in the town square on weekends, all while being the town's most amazing pet sitter. In her spare time (and she really doesn't have any), she is off hiking or doing yoga. 

Cancer: 2012

Then in August 2012, Sharon was diagnosed with Melanoma for the second time. She had a growth on her knee, that a few doctors has misdiagnosed, which gave it time to continue to grow. Sharon's surgery was scheduled for a week after her diagnosis, as a means to be aggressive with treatment. Her surgery took place on Thursday, August 30, 2012, and turned out to be more extensive then originally anticipated. The lymph nodes in her groin were also removed. Her cast after surgery weighed 80 pounds. And the pictures posted with this were taken one month after surgery. She still has a lengthy recovery ahead.

Present Situation

Good news is that the cancer appears to have been contained to the growth that was on her knee. Bad news is that her recovery has produced many tears and frustrations. Her current medical insurance has a very high deductible, and due to working for a small business she doesn't qualify for disability in the state of Texas. So, between her doctors visits, surgery, hospital stay, and time-off from work, her bills are mounting.

Being that she is one of my dearest friends, and that we live far apart from one another, I wanted to find a way that I could help from afar. So, I have created this donation website on her behalf. She has no clue I have set this site up for her, so there is no chance of disappointment. Minimum donations are set at $1, and anything is appreciated.

She is undoubtedly the most amazing person I know. An angel on earth. Mother Nature in a human being.
