was a profound spiritual teacher and a real "Man's Man." In his last months he asked me to put his life and his spiritual message into a book, A Nickel's Worth. Previously, he approved his true self being slightly altered and used as a main character in the spiritual adventure story set in India, The Shiva Paradox.
This fundraiser is to help me get these "Bob Books" published, to give you a chance order your copy(ies) in advance, and to offer you other Rewards for your help, too.
A Nickel's Worth is the fulfilling of one of my last promises to Bob, and The Shiva Paradox always brought a smile to the big guy. Ordering one or some of the books early, and getting some Rewards, is a "win-win" for all involved.
A Nickel's Worth
includes stories from Bob's wild and interesting life intertwined with tales of how he came to find the Spiritual Truth that made his final years--especially the last one--so exceptional for those who came to his Satsangs (spiritual meetings).
There are many Satsang excerpts and full sections, memories of people who knew Bob and whose lives were changed by him, and the behind the scenes story of the excellent medical persons who, encouraged by Bob's ever-present friends, did all they could to give the big Captain more life.
The Shiva Paradox
reveals some of the reasons Bob loved India, especially the Arunachala area and the places made special there by the long-term presence of his favorite teacher, Sri Ramana Maharshi.
A spiritual adventure story set in many of Bob's favorite places, particularly Arunachala, The Shiva Paradox is "fiction" in which Bob allowed a (I said 95%, he said 90% accurate) main character to be based on him. As "Captain Tom Diamond" there are some factual stories about Bob in The Shiva Paradox that aren't even in A Nickel's Worth. The adventure parts of The Shiva Paradox are based on some real people and events, as is almost every character. The spiritual teaching included here, and the persons who give them are all real, though with a couple names changed to protect their privacy. Somewhat disguised versions of two of Bob's dearest friends are also prominent in the story.
Bob read an early version and said, "If a person's never traveled to India, they should read your Shiva book. And if they've already been there, they'll enjoy the heck out of it."
