100km for Wendie

2022 is a special year for many reasons. One of them being that October 18th marks the 10th year that my mum hasn't been around anymore. Unfortunately, in 2012, she passed away from breast cancer, which is why I want to do something to commemorate her and to celebrate the beautiful life full of smiles she lived. My mum, Wendie, was known to be funny, optimistic, sometimes a little rebellious, but most of all known for having a loving soul.

In honour of my mum, I will be taking on Hong Kong’s Maclehose Trail (100km) on October 28^th, in one go and aim to do it in under 24hrs.

Besides honouring my mum, I am also taking on this challenge to raise funds for a cause close to my heart. The charity I have chosen to run and raise funds for is a Belgian foundation called Fonds Multidisciplinair Borstcentrum Leuven. This foundation aims to advance and support research, but also the realization of projects in the diagnosis, treatment, support and follow-up of patients with breast cancer.

October not only marks the month she lost her battle, but is also breast cancer awareness month. Next to raising funds, I also aim to raise awareness around breast cancer and show support to anyone who lost a mother.

With the support of friends and family I have already been able to raise just under 40000HKD, but to make this challenge even more worthwhile I am looking for more donations to support Breast Cancer Research. Your support would mean the world to me!!
