Hi everyone! We are a group of Film students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU)'s School of Art, Design & Media (ADM) currently in the midst of producing our own film. Your support can make all the difference in bringing our creative vision to life, and we can't wait to share this adventure with you!

Director's message: My name is Genie Lim & I’m an aspiring writer-director with a Diploma in Digital Film & Television from Temasek Polytechnic. Growing up, I have always been intrigued by how we can experience the colourful and different lives and thoughts of others through film and media. This medium of storytelling gives us the ability to bridge gaps, foster empathy, and see society from various unseen perspectives. We get to address issues that are often swept under the rug, or considered too uncomfortable to discuss openly. Having been given the chance to direct my own film, I hope to shed light on the untold stories of marginalized communities, challenge prevailing stereotypes, and motivate viewers to question the status quo.

Title: 影

Length: 6 - 8 mins

Logline: A stubborn, elderly film buff must find a way into the cinema hall or else he will miss his date with his wife.

Synopsis:

Ah Hock, a regular moviegoer, eagerly waits for his wife to join him for their weekly movie date. However as the minutes tick by, concern begins to gnaw at him as she doesn't show up. Instead, the staff abruptly ushers him out of the cinema, leaving him bewildered and frustrated.

Agitated, Ah Hock attempts to reason with the staff, vehemently arguing about the movie's screening time. However, the truth dawns upon him like a harsh spotlight - the cinema is closing for the night, and he's been oblivious to it.

Embarrassed and uncertain, Ah Hock stands in the dimly lit cinema lobby, realizing that the passage of time has taken away a cherished tradition and left him with a void he never anticipated.

Themes: Dementia, Isolation, Identity
