Put A Smile On Erins Face – Therapy Away From Home

Our beautiful daughter Erin has been offered a provisional place on the Breathe Magic Intensive Therapy Programme this summer, taking place between 15 and 26 August 2016 in London. The programme, including both the two-week summer camps and the follow on Breathe Magic Clubs, costs £3,200 and with the support of our friends and family we are hoping to be able to fund her place.

Breathe Magic is an innovative way of delivering therapy to children like Erin who have left side hemiplegia. The repetitive action of practicing magic tricks help build up strength and dexterity in the affected hand and arm, and consequently help to increase independence. The performance skills taught as part of the magical learning experience will be used to increase Erins communication skills, confidence, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.

Erin rarely uses her left arm so the programme 'forces' her to use it through the magic tricks and at the end of the 2 weeks the kids put on a magic show for family and friends. Its like intense physio (8 hrs per day for 2 weeks) without the kids realising that's what they are doing!!!
